M/M Paris for Prada

We're J'Loving...

...the collaboration between Prada and those mavericks of graphic design, M/M Paris. The meeting of the minds has even yielded an alphabet, the PradAlphabet, a loopy, doodle-like font designed by the French duo in their signature collage, assemblage, scribbly-scrawly style. Okay, so the lettering isn't exactly the most legible—think Transformers meets Picasso's Guernica—but it sure looks good, especially emblazoned on the limited-edition tees that'll be released in May.

Karl Lagerfeld

High-Karl Diet

Karl Lagerfeld's svelte physique, indomitable work ethic and penchant for keeping young company may belie his 76 years, but speculation surrounding his would-be Chanel successor continues to swirl. Jak and Jil shutterbug Tommy Ton got the blogosphere in a tizzy when he teased his Twitter followers by revealing that he was privy to some seemingly earth-shattering fashion news, details of which he didn't offer. This in turn led many to wonder if Ton was speaking of Herr Lagerfeld's imminent departure from Chanel. As old and stale as that rumor is, if that's what he's referring to, here's something to munch on: the designer has just been honored with a dish in his name at Parisian restaurant La Gioia. The Karl Lagerfeld salad is an Alaskan king crab confection with sea salt, lemon juice and yes, bread crusts. Has the finicky Kaiser gone back to carbs? Now that's a rumor.

Hannelore Knuts

The Exhibitionist

Never shy (clearly), Belgian model Hannelore Knuts is the latest supe to burst back into our collective consciousness. Opening March 27 at the Fashion Museum of Hasselt, Belgium, UltraMegaLore is "a confronting look into her own world that is moved and shaken by many great and small things." For the exhibit (not a retrospective), the creative types she's worked with over the years—pretty much all the top names in fashion and art, many of them now her friends—were asked to contribute, including Haider Ackermann, Azzedine Alaia, Maison Martin Margiela, Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Steven Klein, Elizabeth Peyton and Ugo Rondinone. The show pushes boundaries and buttons, just like Hannelore.

Kathy Grayson

Art for Parties' Sake

Deitch Projects is coming to a close, but the downtown scene isn't about to shut down. After much speculation, Deitch Projects right-hand woman Kathy Grayson finally confirmed that she will indeed take the torch, or at least part of it, according to Art Info. With independent backing, she’ll be setting up her own gallery with many of the same names from Deitch, including besties Rosson Crow and Aurel Schmidt, whom she was instrumental in promoting in the first place.

For those in the know, this hardly comes as a surprise. Grayson, a talented painter herself, has been Deitch’s longtime emissary to the emerging art scene, enlisting numerous of her pals for groundbreaking exhibitions and epic happenings—remember Dash Snow and Dan Colen’s infamous “Nest” exhibit of shredded newspapers, urine and wine? (Neither do we, hiccup.)

Along with artistic savvy, Grayson has never been afraid to bring the party, a combination that re-energized the stiff gallery scene. No word yet on the actual location, but she’s said to be eying the former Marithé + François Girbaud boutique on Wooster. It’s bound to debut with a bash, and we can’t think of anyone better to keep the faith alive.

Rie Rasmussen

Skin Reaction

Seems not every model is willing to grin and bear it for Terry Richardson. Known for his nudes of young models in suggestive poses, the photog recently found himself on the receiving end of some harsh criticism from Rie Rasmussen. The seasoned supe and artist reportedly got up in Richardson's owlish grill at a Paris party, laying into him for exploiting his young subjects and calling his work "completely degrading to women." Relating the encounter to Page Six, Rasmussen added, "I hope you know you only [bleep] girls because you have a camera, lots of fashion contacts and get your pictures in Vogue." It sounds like there's more to the story to us, and perhaps tastes have shifted in the last year, but no matter where your views fall in the art-versus-porn debate, it seems like a less-than-pretty picture has developed for Richardson and fellow softcore auteurs.

Angst magazine

The Quickie

Launched this week, arts-fashion-counterculture magazine Angst is the latest to partner with Bless and devote ad pages to the German label. Issue one, spring, features work by a host of creative types: Anastasia Freygang, Atlanta Rascher, Sibylle Bergemann, Michael Lavine, Gosha Rubchinskiy and& Cyprien Gaillard, shortlisted for the prestigious Prix Marcel Duchamp 2010.

Charlotte Gainsbourg

Headline Trip

Dust off those Balenciaga architectural heels and boxy blazers, because Charlotte Gainsbourg has announced her first North American tour, which includes a stop at Coachella next month. (Pitchfork)

Despite a few financial speed bumps, Yohji Yamamoto is getting back on track. He's bringing back his men's line with a special showing in Tokyo, after almost three decades in the City of Lights. (WWD)

It’s conceptual! It’s German! It must be Bless' new No. 40 collection—or rather, a video of it by Sebastien Jamain. We’re still trying to figure it out, but the clothes look great. (Paris-LA)

Karl Lagerfeld likes computers, but doesn't necessarily want to use one. He doesn't like phones either, which dashes our hopes of finding him on Grindr. (WWD)

Richie Rich is launching a new fashion label, Tabloid Hero, inspired by Pamela Anderson. Apparently all his friends are encouraging it. Hmmm. (Page Six)

Lady Gaga in Viktor & Rolf

The Quickie

In her video for Telephone, premiering on E! News tonight at 11:30 pm, Lady Gaga wears a custom leopard-print jumpsuit with studded bodice and metal chains by Viktor & Rolf. "Lady Gaga asked us to design a prisoner's outfit. This is how we imagined Gaga if she would be incarcerated," say V&R. "She inspired us and her bodysuit was included in our brand new Glamour Factory collection. It is styled with a huge pile of exaggerated metal chain necklaces.”"

Amy Winehouse

Worker Beehive

At least they didn't ask her to be the creative director. Following months of speculation, word came today that onetime Lagerfeld muse and MIA musician Amy Winehouse will collaborate with Fred Perry on a 17-piece collection, slated to hit stores in October. Though better known of late for her dubious medical maladies and Sid-and-Nancy love affair with her ex-husband, Winehouse seems to be taking a hands-on approach, weighing in on cut, color and fit. Looks will include pencil skirts, gingham shirts, twinsets and Fred Perry's signature polos. Ratty beehives and dirty ballet slippers not included.
